Public spaces are powerful because they bring communities together. At Great Highway Park, we are fortunate to have many occasions to come together in celebration. But we also believe that public spaces are even more powerful when they bring the community together in times of challenge. When our public spaces can motivate us to do something to help our neighbors.
With this in mind, the Friends of Great Highway Park invite you to join us for a thought-provoking photo exhibition in support of the people of Ukraine. Our friends at Fulbright Ukraine / IIE Kyiv office, in partnership with HROMADA (a Bay Area Ukrainian newspaper), are bringing their traveling photo exhibition showcasing the Ukrainian war experience from the lens of Fulbright fellow alumni. Former Ukrainian peace corp volunteers will accompany the photo exhibit with live music. And we will all have a chance to come together to support our friends in Ukraine, both in spirit and substance: a local Ukrainian nonprofit will be on hand to accept financial contributions that can support Ukrainian civilians living through war at home.
Can’t make the event but want to support the people of Ukraine? You can donate here:
Twelve large format photographs from the Fulbright Ukraine / IIE exhibit will be displayed, captured by J.T. Blatty, Oleksii Furman, Brendan Hoffmann, Serhii Korovaynyi, Oksana Parafeniuk, Joseph Sywenkyj, and Emine Ziyatdinova.
